Default Welcome new users

Welcome to The JC Board!.

Let me tell you a little bit about The JC Board and why I started it. As someone who has lived in the NYC metro area for 10 years, I really enjoy the area, and am fascinated by the growth, particularly what has happend West of the Hudson.

I've tried partcipating in other boards, and I don't always like what I see. First a board is about the users, not the advertisers. As long as people are being somewhat civil to each other, I see no reason people can't disagree about whatever they want, and hate any building project they want. If they happen to advertise on the site, so be it. I'd rather lose some advertising than lose the community.

There have been numerous examples of what I am talking about, and I'd like to include one just so everyone understands how bad it has gotten.

The moderator at Kannekt posted the following:

This is a moderated board, which means posts will be removed based on certain rules and based on the moderators judgement. Censorship is not the right word because you can always go to another board if you don't like the way the board is moderated-Moderator
The part that upsets me the most about this is the "certain rules". This site does not have any kind of rules posted that tell you what is allowed or not. From experience, I can tell you that who advertises on the site has a lot to do with what isn't allowed.

On this site, there is but one rule: If a 10 year old knows it's not something you shouldn't say, then you probably shouldn't say it. This is not an anonymous board, so if you run your mouth off, you will get a reputation, and here people can add you to their ignore list.

My Promise to you: I will not delete posts without explaining why I am doing it. They will not vanish into thin air. If you say something objectionable, I will edit the post and explain what the issue was.

Anyway, happy posting!
