What can you do with a new neighbor who moves into an established neighborhood, and expects everyone to bow down and change to fit them. Jack

I can't offer you any suggestions, but I can tell you, you're not alone. My neighborhood is beginning to change and of the 5 new families that have moved here recently, only two are nice. We were instrumental in having one of the others sell their house as we constantly complained about the number of families living in a two family house. Only when the man died in the fire downtown, did the city crack down on the owners. They moved last week but we don't know who's taking their place. The other two newcomers most of us simply ignore. It's not a good way to coexist but one can't keep arguing over nonsense. Good luck and keep us posted.

QUOTE (GREENVILLE @ 2008-02-23 17:28:25) EGG HIS HOUSE Egging the house isn't an option, they rent in a nice elderly womans house. They called the police on me because I cleared the street in front of my driveway and shoveled it into "THEIR" parking space. They have 3 cars and a motorcycle, and want everything in front of "THEIR" house. The spot I shoveled to is between 2 driveway and is really to small for a car so we've been piling snow there since my in laws bought the house, 40 years ago, but they park there anyway, as long as they don't block me in, I don't complain about it, but my father in law got stuck in the street in front of the driveway, so I cleared it out. Snow removal ( really pushing it from one place to another)is always a big problem. I am very lucky the neighbors on both sides of me are wonderful people. When there were tenents to my right, they too, owned a parking space and would repeatedly shovel the snow towards my driveway. I tried talking to them but they ignored me ,so I planned my snow shoveling accordingly. Every time they threatened snow, I parked in the space between the houses. I'd move my car into the garage and immediately fill the exterior space with the snow, making sure to pile the bulk of it away from my driveway. They got the message. I still do the same thing even though they moved because if the space is occupied, I don't have anywhere to pile the snow if we get more than a few inches. Didn't the police tell them the street is city property and doesn't belong to anyone?

Yes - they were told, but they didn't stop talking long enough to hear what the officer told them. All they heard was the officer tell me to move the snow - it is illeagal to throw snow in the street, even though I just redistributed the snow that was already in the street. I HOPE EVERYONE HEARS THAT - IT IS ILLEAGAL TO PILE SNOW IN THE STREET. I guess we have to leave it on the sidewalk, oh no - wait - thats illeagal too - you have to clear your sidewalk - well where the hell are we supposed to put it. The officer told me to move it to shut them up, I told her I had an appointment and had to go and would do it later. When I got back, the neighbors daughter had parked her car there without a problem. I had no intentions of moving the snow - along with the fact I had my police scanner on and heard her call in to dispatch that there was no significant amount of snow that could not be driven over.
