Default Here\'s a laugh...

Talk about spin, here is the quote from the Bayonne High web page: Placement of Graduates "Of the top 25% of Bayonne High School's Class of 2007, over 95% are attending 4-year or 2-year colleges"

That states that 23.75% of BHS 2007 class are going to attend 4 or 2 year colleges.. What about the other 76.25 %?????????????????

They have a lot of nerve questioning "schooldigger" rankings when this is the sort of insulting nonsensical "statistics" the Bayonne BOE spews.

What does the stat mean? Not everyone chooses to attend college directly out of HS. I didn't go to college until a few years later. There are many reasons for HS students to not continue on to college, it is not the fault of the BOE. Jude

Sounds like an old Yogi Berra quote: "90% of the game is half mental"

Laura, I think you misread the data. You did not include the remaining 75% of the graduates. Of the top25% , 95% are attending 4 or 2 year colleges. One fourth of 551 = 138. 138 X .95 = 131. the stats then read 4year colleges 52%, 2 year colleges 25% or 79% go to some college. 440 of 551 attend college. Of the 440, 131 are in the top 25% of the graduating class. I hope this clarifies the info from the web page.

Lulu, Since I made my statement, the BOE updated the site to include the data for the remaining graduate body. Actually, they mentioned this site and this thread at the meeting. I'm glad they corrected their error.

The statement on the front of the BHS website was misleading. Again, I'm glad they have corrected it and it is more comprehensively reflecting the actual data of post HS intentions.
