It appears that Councilman LoRe’s statement that Al Sullivan of the Community News reported on Wednesday is beginning to show its effects.<o> </o>
<p class="MsoNormal">The first effect is that the Mayor’s office has been reluctant to give an official statement of position. No doubt eventually something will be said, but for now my email as gone unanswered.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The second effect, according to sources, is that <st1:state w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Washington</st1lace></st1:state> has heard Mr. LoRe’s comment. One can only imagine that they were none too pleased.<o> </o></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The third effect may actually be a positive one. Mr. LoRe’s comments appear to have caused the BLRA (&amp; the mayors office?) to redouble their negotiation efforts with the Army.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In a strange way, the Army may actually have become more sympathetic, if not towards the city government, at least to the plight of the citizens. Only time will tell if this is true.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In the meantime I hope to hear back from the Mayor with an official statement.</p>
