An interview with Yitzchak David: ask your questions
Posted 05-19-2008 at 09:16 AM by neilbarton
I met with mayoral candidate Yitzchak David this weekend and he has agreed to an interview. I know many of you have been wondering about him, as he is unknown on the political scene. This is your chance to ask him any question you like. Respond to this post with your questions and I will include them in the interview. I will wait for a week before submitting questions.

Jude AmerickMr. David,
My questions to Mr David 1) Are you serious about running for Mayor? 2) How will you convince the voting public that a 24 year old can run a 60k population city. 3) Have you attended a council meeting? If not, will you start? 4) What will you DO to reduce spending and increase revenue to bring this city out of it's major financial crisis. I emphasized DO because we always hear a politician say they will cut spending and increase revenue but they never tell us HOW. 5) You will be going up against an older gentleman who will use his “experience” as his positive and use your age as a negative; How will you use your age as a positive in this upcoming campaign? 6) What is your vision for Bayonne in the next four years? 7) Are you familiar with the history of Bayonne. I ask this because in order to move forward you will need to know what this city is about. Thanks for your time Jude Americk |

luluWould you support an elected school board vs an appointed school board? Why?
Are there any present city employees that you admire and would rely upon for guidance? With so many problems facing Bayonne, which one would be your top priority to resolve? How? Is there any group financing your run for mayor? Thank You, |

HappyPolskiNeil, what was your impression on Mr. David? What do you two chat about? Since he seemed evasive about past meeting I have to wonder, was he on time for your meeting? Where did you meet? Did anyone else participate? How long was your meeting?

adminStan,
I invited Mr. David to my home at 3:30 on Sunday. My wife and I put together a small afternoon tea, figuring we would eat & chat for a short while. I got a call at 3:30 from Mr. David telling me he was delayed, he eventually came by at 4:10. My intention was to gauge the seriousness of his bid, discover how much he knows about the issues, to have him agree to be interviewed and to see if he would take part in a possible debate among other candidates. We sat and spoke for about an hour, the only other person present was my wife. She though he was very young. He seems genuine in his interest in running for mayor, but realistic about his chances of winning. I think he should research some issues a bit more, but I am going to let him answer the questions first before I give any further opinion on that. It is obvious to me that he has political ambitions, but he also seems concerned with doing the right thing. Of course everyone has their own ideas of what the right thing might be, so time will tell what his intentions are. Neil |
