Check out the attached adobe acrobat file (bayonnecogen.pdf) detailing plans for a new cogeneration plant that might be built in Bayonne. Credit for this find goes to JoeC on the Bayonne.net webboard.<a href="http://bayonnepublicadvocate.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/bayonnecogen.pdf" title="bayonnecogen.pdf">

KingBayRatFrom the spec sheet this appears to be a regular natural gas fired power plant, not a co-gen plant. In a co-gerenation plant there is some other use for the heat that would normally be wasted. If there is another use for the heat it isnt listed on the sheet.
Does anyone know if this plant is associated with some other industrial process or local heat requirement out in the vicinity of Hook Road? This appears to be a power plant that will sell its energy back to the grid. I would assume that the plant is being constructed to handle the electric load that is anticipated to be created at the new mall and MOT. |

LDePintoNice job Joe C.
Isn't the denial of a cogeneration plant for Best Foods/CasChem one of the reasons that Best Foods left? |
