Yitzchak David

Not much on here about this potential Mayoral candidate. If we all were serious about Bayonne going in a new direction and getting away from the same ole' same ole, we should be looking to vote for Yitzchak. He is new to Bayonne, young, and could bring a different view to this city. Some on that other board think that a Conaghan victory would just be more of the same, just with a different cast of characters. I truly believe nothing will change.
It is about time we put our money where our mouth is and vote this guy in. What is the worse that could happen?

VinceACan't say what the worse is until we know what David stands for. I just don't want to hear that he's for "change" with no definition of what that change is. I just noticed that he seems to have removed the fact that he leans liberal from his Facebook page.
My kids think I should run just to see how few votes I would get. We're guessing the number would be about four (me, my wife, my son & my mother-in-law) or less. |

KingBayRatJude, This is a joke. Probably got put up to stating he wanted to be mayor by some frat boy friends of his. Dont take your eye off the ball. Look for Mark Smith and the Doria gang to try to keep the status quo using the same tactics as last time. Scare everyone with BS and promise the municipal workers everything in order to carry the day.

Jude AmerickIf this kid is on the ballot, he gets my vote. At this point, what is the harm? Smith or Conaghan will just be the same ole same ole. If we are serious about change and a new direction, David would be it, no?
As I said on many occassions here and on NJO, Bayonne needs a mayor who doesn't know anyone in he city, owes no favors, is looking to seriously cut expenses and is only looking for one term. Otherwise no matter who runs, they are connected to someone. Based on the Joe O wisdom of the day, anyone who runs against Conaghan is pro-Doria. That is why I would love for David to run. Jude |

luluIf the city was financially stable and had no serious problems, I would immediately give the young man a chance. To garner my vote, he'll have to be able to offer a detailed strategic plan to address the serious issues facing this community. We can't afford to take any more risks having inexperienced and unqualified individuals try to manage our town, as that is what put us in this mess to begin with.

Jude AmerickTeacher salaries? Not a problem with me if he also looks to reduce the salaries of the admins. Take from them and give it to the teachers.

Jude AmerickNot to say some on the public payroll shouldn't be let go. Someone nees to clean house. There needs tobe an end to the "safety of a being a city employee" Need to do more with less rather than the current, do less with more.

VinceAShatter the unions and let everyone justify their own existence and salary. No tenure for anyone.
Yeah, it's a dream but I'm a dreamer. |

luluUnfortunately politics always plays a role in education. Without tenure, some excellent teachers would lose their jobs to make room for the "chosen few". The tenure laws should be amended because the way they are presently written, it is too hard to rid a system of the bad apples. Some teachers do be come very lax after several years and it's difficult to try and remove them because of tenure. Like everything else, tenure has some good features and some bad ones. If all teachers were judged strictly on their performance, most wouldn't care if there was a tenure law, but we know that's not the case.

Jude AmerickCityedition,
Kidding about what? About Mr. David? No, not at all. If we are all serious about a change from the same ole' same ole', he is the answer. New to the city, knows nobody and owes noboby. He could be unphased about what and who needs to be cut from city hall. His age actually is a breath of fresh air. We need some young minds running this city. Jude |

KingBayRatChange for the sake of change is dangerous. This kid is only a distraction. Keep your eye on the ball Jude. It will take a concerted effort by everyone to unseat the status quo - Malloy/Smith/Doria. We may think its a no-brainer that change will come in Nov. Nothing could be further from the truth. Money talks and the old guard will have alot of it.

Jude AmerickBut change from Bayonne's status quo is important. This kid could cause a serious rift in the way things are run in Bayonne. In order to move foward into the 21st century, which Bayonne is now 8 years late, we need someone like Yitzchak. If Mr. David is serious and has a plan, he will get my vote. I have no interest in Conaghan. If it is Conaghan and Smith, Mark gets my vote solely based on the fact I have known him and his family since I was a pup. Wrong reason to vote? Yes. But the other choice doesn't thrill me one bit nor does it tell me that change will come to Bayonne.

cityeditionKBR,
I agree with you, change for the sake of change is dangerous, not to mention wasteful, and in agreement with Jude Conaghan will bring no change, just a new cast of characters eager for a turn at the table. Conaghan, Chiappone and others are trading on people's frustrations and while they talk about change there's no plan, just rhetoric and convienient sound bites. |
