Verizon plans to erect 11 cellphone towers near the Adirondack Northway to fill the service gap along a remote stretch where a Brooklyn motorist crashed and froze to death in January, unable to call for help. The Adirondack Park Agency is scheduled on Thursday to consider a staff recommendation to approve the first tower, which would rise 94 feet above Route 9 in North Hudson. Verizon currently has more than 20 cell towers in the Adirondacks, a company spokesman said.
