Default Bx. Kids Replanting 9/11 Trees

Five months after some heartless vandals ripped out a small grove of 9/11 memorial trees from a Bronx park, the boughs are now blooming again. The "Friends of Ferry Point Park" group replanted 15 trees in the park in a morning ceremony yesterday - one to remember each of the people from the Throgs Neck area lost in the attack. Three of the trees that were planted were from the original memorial grove, which was torn up in December. "I feel much better now," said Dorothea Poggi, a member of the group. "In fact, I was glad to plant the original ones . . . So it feels like they were never ripped down." Among the group at the planting was the family of 9/11 victim Michael Lynch, who placed a tree in his memory.
