Default Morton Williams is open

The Morton Williams Supermarket at The Shore Club is almost open. They have begun stocking the shelves with Merchandise. Generally this means the strore could be open in as little as 2 weeks.

Default Morton Williams Pictures

The Morton Williams at the Shore Club in Pavonia Newport is close to opening. They have taken off some of the covers off of the windows.

The store will be 8 aisles wide, so not large by grocery store standards, but they should have a goo selection.

Here is another shot with merchandise on the shelf

I walked by there. It's nearly full stocked. It looks like the bakery will have a window so you can buy things without going in.

Default Morton Williams is Open!

I took a look around. It is definitely a nice grocery store.

To say it is New York City Style is an understatement (with both the good and bad implications). There is the largest selection of cheeses I have ever seen and plenty of pre-made ready to heat meals. The selection is good, but not great. The fruits and vegtables looked great.

The prices are not significantly higher than shoprite and A&P, BUT nothing seems to be on sale (in the typical grocery store, every item in the store goes on sale about once every 12 weeks). Therefore, it is more suited for quick shopping.

Verdict: If you are single or prefer to shop one day at a time, this is your grocery store. If you are the type who likes to do weekly shopping and save some money, this is not the place. Anymore most grocery stores have a good selection of produce and cheeses, so MW doesn't have the advantage it once did.

its a great addition to the neighborhood

i will probably pick up a salad fruit and something prepared or easy to prepare

and order in far less often

last night the grilled chicken breasts on the salad bar were pretty good

and the green grapes were big beautiful and tasty

Default Morton Williams -private label / Shoprite

I'm an owner / family member of Morton Williams. I've seen questions posted about the Shoprite label and would like to provide you with the answers.
Most of our stores are located across the river in Manhattan. For years, our customers have been asking for a high quality and reasonably priced private label. However, our 12 family-owned stores do not have sufficient volume to justify our own private label program with hundreds of items.
After careful research we selected the Shoprite label which we have found to be of at least equal quality to the national brands and well-priced. We have entered into a wholesale agreement with Wakefern/Shoprite to supply our grocery, dairy, and frozen departments. The savings we get are passed to our customers since we price on a cost-plus basis. So that's the answer. Please feel free to contact us via our website at Welcome to Morton Williams Supermarkets!, and thank you for shoping with us.
